Dental Technology

In order to provide nothing but the best to our patients,
River City Dental uses state-of-the-art technologies in all our procedures.

These new technologies allow us to treat dental cases with extreme precision, detect dental concerns at early stages, and provide stunning and customized restorations. When you visit our office you can be confident that you are receiving on the finest and most advanced in dental care.

Our team uses some of the latest technology and techniques the field of dentistry has to offer. With the many recent advances in dental technology, procedures that used to require heavy anesthetics are now easier, accomplished with greater precision, and are often much more comfortable for the patient. Additionally, new technology allows River City Dental to have a more accurate guide to each patient’s unique tooth and gum formation, as well as to provide patients with a preview of what they can expect in regard to their procedural results.

Digital X-Rays

As opposed to traditional x-rays, digital x-rays reduce your exposure to radiation. They can also be viewed almost instantly, saving you time while producing a high-quality, precise image for our staff to view. Plus, digital x-rays are less harmful to the environment because they do not require the use of developing chemicals.

X-rays are a focused beam of x-ray particles passed through bone, which produce an image on special film, showing the structure through which it passed.  This provides the familiar black and white images doctors and dentists use to diagnose problems and disease.  Without an x-ray of the whole tooth and supporting bone and gum tissues, there would be no way to detect infection or pathology that requires attention.

In our office we use digital radiography, which allows us to take x-rays using up to 90% less radiation than conventional film x-rays.  Using this technology, we are able to take an x-ray of your mouth by using a small sensor, which records the image of your teeth and sends it to a computer.  The result is a highly detailed image of your mouth that can easily be enhanced to better diagnosis dental concerns and determine the very best treatment for each case.

Intraoral Camera

Ever wondered what was going on inside your mouth? With our intraoral camera and cavity detection imaging, you can see what we see! Our team will allow you to visualize that cavity, broken filling, or cracked tooth which will give us the opportunity to inform, educate, and present to you with your available treatment options. At River City Dental we believe in providing honest, conservative, and compassionate care.

We use small cameras about the size of a pen, called intraoral cameras, to help clearly see the condition of your teeth and gums.  With this advanced technology we can zoom in on small diseased areas, cracks, chips and worn metal fillings with extreme precision. The full-color images taken with the intraoral camera are sent to a computer screen so we can clearly see and diagnose dental problems much earlier than with traditional dental technology. Because images are displayed on our screens, you will also be able to see areas being worked on and are able to gain a better understanding of dental procedures being performed.

Wand Anesthesia

The Wand is essentially a computer-controlled dental injection. A computer controls the flow rate of the local anesthetic. This means that the injection is guaranteed to be slow and steady and therefore comfortable. Even though Milestone Scientific – the manufacturers of the Wand – now call their products CompuDent and STA (Single Tooth Anesthesia) System, we’ll still call it the Wand here – because a lot of people with needle phobia describe it as their “Magic Wand”!

Most people who have had a bad experience with injections think that needles sting because the skin is pierced, but this is usually not so! Most often, the sting was caused because the anesthetic was fired in too quickly. At River City Dental we want to take out the “human error”. This can be very reassuring for people with previous bad experiences, and our goal is to service our clients with no negative experiences.

HD Monitors

Another benefit technology has provided dental offices are the removal of bulky computer monitors.  At River City Dental the addition of flat screen monitors allows for extra space in examination rooms and for flat screen television screens to be embedded into the ceiling for the entertainment of our patience during their treatments.

Overall, advancements in technology combined with economizing space have led to provide treatment more quickly, less painfully and in smaller spaces.   We provide movies and sound experiences that help detract from the sounds of dentist drills or other devices. Our goal is to make our patients as comfortable as possible, helping ease the anxiety they may feel while having their teeth worked on.

Electronic Claim Processing

At River City Dental we utilize electronic claims processing to help streamline and expedite your payment process. This means that rather than sending your dental claim through the mail, it is sent electronically to your insurance company with the click of the button.

By filing your claim electronically, information is submitted more efficiently and with fewer errors. This benefits our patients because the turn around time on claims is faster and fewer claims are returned or denied. We are happy to submit your dental claims to your insurance company on your behalf.

Dental Laboratory

Dr. Steger and Dr. Cuevas prefer not to offer same day crowns fabricated by a machine in our office. Instead, they leave it to the experts and send their cases to a talented team of dental lab technicians and artists who are experienced in fabricating dental appliances and dental prosthesis.
